My sidekick for this roadtrip adventure was my dad, Thad. He’s a big Packers fan, so of course our route cruised throughout Wisconsin.

First stop: Decatur Dairy in Brodhead, WI. We heard about their large selection of cheese curds & their famous grilled cheese sandwiches. It was still mid-morning when we stopped, so we just reviewed their selection and purchased a bag of jalapeño cheese curds & some Braunschweiger. The cheese curds were delicious! Not to mention they had so many flavors to choose from (anything from simple muenster curds to french onion cheese curds).
Next stop: Wayne’s Drive In in Cedarburg, WI. This place looks adorable and takes you back in time. The staff was friendly and the food was good (a little greasy, but that’s to be expected from a drive in/diner 😉 ). We enjoyed a patty melt, mushroom swiss burger, and onion rings. It was fun to hear them call out the orders over the speakers while we enjoyed our meal together. The staff definitely kept busy mixing up shakes, flurries, and various ice cream specialties as well.

Next stop: Witte’s Vegetable Farm. It was a spur the moment decision to stop…but this is a great place to check out if in need of fresh veggies, flowers, sweet corn, and more!
Next stop: one of my favorite memories from the trip… The Covered Bridge Park in Cedarburg, WI. The covered bridge was still in great shape, the park was relaxing, and some people were kicked back in lawn chairs enjoying a good book. My dad and I share a passion for photography, so this was a fun stop on our daytrip.
Next stop: Port Washington, WI. This came highly recommended from my Dad, and I began to understand why as soon as we entered the town... They had a fun downtown filled with plenty of restaurants with outdoor dining. We parked next to the water and took in the line of charter boats and checked out their fresh catches for the day. There are plenty of water sports and things to do in this town. There was a newer BBQ joint that looked yummy, and a homemade chocolate & ice cream shop called Chocolate Chisel that had unique flavors of ice cream. If looking to make this a weekend or week trip, there was a hotel right on the water called Harborview. I was on the hunt for some homemade apple pie, but the bakery in town already closed at 3 PM; So get there early to enjoy all that this town has to offer!
For dessert/supper we decided to try the homemade ice cream at Mullen's Dairy Bar in Watertown, WI. On our way back, we went south down to Milwaukee to check out some of the gorgeous & huge houses on the water. Once we cut west, we drove past Miller Park as well (Man how I miss the normal summer of MLB games & ballpark experiences).
When we arrived at Mullen’s, their outdoor mural caught my eye. We stopped to take a photo, and then entered inside to the fun interior décor, old booths, and good music. Only downfall of this location is that they do not display their homemade ice cream to look at/taste test. My dad ordered a mint hot fudge sundae; I elected for the dusty road sundae. There’s something fun and youthful about the long sundae spoons which work perfectly for getting down to the very last drop of hot fudge! 😋
I am so incredibly thankful for a full day of making memories on our father-daughter road trip ❤️ These are the types of memories that’ll last a lifetime; so grab a friend or family member, and make some memories for yourself. ~ Blonde Ambition
